First – we use it to manufacture, print, personalize and ship the cards. (That costs a lot but it is how we are able to give people the dignity of eating what and where they want!)
Second – we have to license special financial software to process each card and track where it is redeemed and for what amount.
Third – we build partnerships with other nonprofits to deliver cards to them for distribution to the people that they serve.
Fourth – we track the unredeemed money from every card and send it to our food bank partners.
The concept of Street Charity cards is very simple, but it is a big process and costs a lot more than most people think! We work hard to keep our costs down every step of the way, and currently, we are proud to say that 91% of your donation goes straight to getting cards into the hands of those in need.
